Minakshi chose librarianship as a second career after pursuing elementary school science teaching with the Toronto District School Board. She completed her Master of Information Studies degree at the University of Toronto and has experience as a librarian in academic, medical, special and public health libraries. She is grateful to the mentors and colleagues who she learned from at Sheridan College, London Health Sciences Centre, Public Health Ontario and Toronto Public Health (TPH). She has delivered instruction sessions to students, clinicians, and allied health practitioners. She has designed and delivered accredited medical education courses for clinicians at Western’s School of Continuing Education and conducted comprehensive searches to support the creation of evidence syntheses. Minakshi finds user feedback insightful and enjoys implementing changes to improve systems or processes. In her current role at TPH Minakshi collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation of the Soutron Library Management System (LMS), led the review of all library processes post-implementation and created training and procedural documentation for library staff. In addition, she supported the rapid-review projects undertaken by TPH staff who completed their Evidence Informed Public Health training with NCCMT. Over the last year, she has been supporting various teams involved in the COVID-19 response at TPH. She is passionate about developing information tools or repositories that are designed to meet user’s needs and connecting users with the information they need to make effective decisions. Minakshi currently undertakes literature searches, library instruction, LMS management, subscription renewals, cataloguing, and inter library loans. During her spare time Minakshi organizes a weekly (virtual) reading club for her two school-aged children, enjoys discovering new vegan or vegetarian dishes, and baking eggless and nut free treats.
