Anthropogenic climate change is the cumulative result of human production and consumption, activities that are organized by social structures dependent on a consensus regarding the nature of life by individual minds. Such interactions also determine the nature and interventions available to mental illness.

Paul will attempt to draw connections between the parallels and direct links between globalized capitalism and the current culture of psychiatry, proposing that psychiatry as situated in an exploration of the mind as well as shaped by social/economic forces, has within its controversies an opportunity to facilitate a crucial conversation about how we understand and live our lives among others and in the world.

Paul Uy is currently a third year Psychiatry Resident at the University of Toronto, on rotation at St. Michael’s Hospital in Geriatric Psychiatry.
